Most driveways fail below the surface long before they fail above it. This project began with a worn, uneven approach that puddled after rain and had lost its edges to years of settlement — the sort of surface homeowners live with because a resurface feels like a gamble.
Rather than skim over the problem, the existing surface was taken back, levels re-set and a permeable base built to fall away from the house. Granite setts were laid to hold the new sweeping curve, giving the resin something permanent to finish against.
The binder is mixed on site in small, timed batches. Aggregate and resin are weighed to the same ratio every time, poured, screeded and then hand-trowelled while still workable — the stage that separates a flat, even finish from a patchy one.
The result is a seamless silver-grey surface with a crisp granite border, draining freely, sitting flush at the threshold and finished by hand at every edge.

Lost edges and a broken curve
New granite setts were bedded and haunched to re-form the sweeping edge, giving a permanent restraint for the resin to be trowelled against.
Working around a lived-in home
Access to the front door was maintained throughout, materials kept tight to one working area and the site swept clean at the end of every day.
