Porcelain Colour Guide
Porcelain colour is permanent. It does not weather, fade or mellow, so the choice deserves an afternoon rather than a minute.
Light tones
Ivory and pale stone reflect light and make enclosed gardens feel larger. They suit shaded northern plots and pale rendered houses. They do show more, though porcelain washes clean in a way stone never does.
Mid and warm stone
The most versatile family, and the safest against Cumbrian sandstone and slate. A warm stone terrace rarely dates and never fights the building.
Dark tones
Anthracite and graphite create drama and make planting, water and lighting read strongly. Best on generous terraces with good natural light — a small, shaded, dark terrace can feel closed in.
Wood effect
For the warmth of timber with none of the maintenance. Particularly effective around pools, hot tubs and level thresholds where real timber would move.
